I want to say first off that I truly appreciate the level of thought and obvious passion (and pain) you put into your reply. I share your frustrations and I have no rebuttal to much of what you said because I’m in almost complete agreement with it all.
However, I do want to caution against judging the present by the past. Yes, ever since George Sr. America has been circling the drain. They had Bush Sr. Clinton, Bush Jr. and Obama in the 40 years since Reagan left office. Americans have not had leadership worth respecting in any of those years. Much of the country has been sold off to foreign entities, military might senselessy and cruelly deployed for reasons few Americans agree with and the economy as well as racial relations has gotten progressively worse during these times.
America still is dealing with the trauma of 9/11 and the obvious corruption and self-serving interests of many who claim to protect and serve the constitution while bending to special interests and lining their pockets. Career politicians like Biden and Pelosi are the snakes of Washington that slither ruthlessly about without a care in the world because they think themselves to be untouchable and are buttressed by forces greater than they, who are faceless to most of us and compromises the military industrial complex among other entities of powerful influence.
So that’s American politics for the last 40 years. It is reasonable to be expecting more of the same, and it is understandable that such skepticism and lack of trust would extend to the present administration due to how it has been in Washington for so long.
But no longer is this the case.
It is easy to assume that Trump is another flavour of a liar but this is where our differences lie. I don’t think he is a liar. I think he honestly has the best interests of the American people at heart.
Earlier tonight I had been talking with my cousin who is in his 20s. He is a proud leftist and this is the first time we’ve had a long discussion about politics between us.
He told me much of what you’ve told me, about American foreign policy, the issues with racism and police brutality and it was fascinating for me to listen to because the more I asked him certain questions, the less left -leaning he appeared to become.
For instance, he was convinced that Trump was profiting off of his endorsement of Hydroxychloroquine and I asked him if he knew that it was a drug that was no longer patented and therefore couldn’t be profited off of. He did not know that the drug has been deemed safe for use since it debuted in 1958.
There were other surprises in our conversation that made me really able to see where the left are coming from and it highlighted the echo chamber many leftists seem to inhabit.
So to touch on why I think President Trump is different from what came before, and to help explain why his fans are so vocal and effusive with praise (to the bafflement of leftists) is difficult to lay out without writing an essay but I’ll share a few of what he has accomplished in office within the last few months.
Yesterday we had a successful SpaceX launch (as per his directive and to his credit) where the president gave a heartfelt speech that addressed George Floyd, offered condolences and he affirmed that justice will be served to those responsible. And it has been served. The officer who murdered Floyd is now fired and charged with manslaughter and Trump has expedited the investigation hinting that other officers will be charged as well.
This is not what past politicians would have done at a NASA press conference after a successful launch. George Floyd is being sincerely honoured and given the justice that he deserves by a man who places his death to be of a higher priority than to simply speak about a rocket firing into space.
And then days earlier, Trump signed an executive order to hold social media monoliths liable for their content due to the reckless left -leaning amounts of censorship that places like Twitter, YouTube and Facebook has been doing.
And yet my cousin seems to think that Trump wants to ban Twitter instead of following the true facts of the situation.
I can write for pages about Trump. I watch most of the White House pressers and speeches. I’m very tuned into what this administration is doing and achieving. Initially I was skeptical about Trump but considered him the lesser of two evils. So I was not a fan of him to start with but after following him closely, I can see why he appeals to so many people.
He speaks the truth. As often as he can. He doesn’t play the game of politics like previous presidents have done. He’s an outsider and a billionaire who self-financed his own campaign. He is not beholden to special interests and that is why he is so loved by his supporters. When he ordered churches to be opened against democratic governors insisting them to remain closed, that is the mark of a true leader. To do what is right even if it does not appear politically favourable.
There are so many examples of Trump going against the grain. Just look at how the media is treating him. It is a very good sign to see CNN spin their propaganda on him because he is hitting a nerve with these giant conglomerates. There really is a deep state and corruption that exists inside and outside of government that I have been seeing Trump taking a stand against.
Now, I understand that he may not appear Presidental to you. That his vocabulary is limited, and he may not be as eloquent as Obama or Clinton but when judging is done by actions rather than words, the perspective changes dramatically.
Take Obama for instance. He managed to justify the training of ISIS/ISIL and used American military and military hardware to do so. He sent billions of dollars to Iran. He sold the entire country out and yet he was such a smooth talker with an adoring media at his side that this snake flew under the radar just like many has done before.
But really, look at the media frenzy around Trump. Remember Dubya got us into this mess of a quagmire in the middle East and yet the media did not lash out at this war criminal the way they’ve lashed out at Trump. Why is that? Have you thought about this? Is that kind of treatment deserved? It’s definitely unusual isn’t it?
So… I personally like Trump because I’m seeing a larger war being fought. I’m seeing players in the game that have not shown their faces before. Such as Dr Fauci who fed us all this misinformation about not having to worry about the virus, about not needing to wear masks, and wrongly predicting catastrophic numbers of death that we haven’t even reached the lowest estimates of.
And pulling funding from the WHO is an incredibly ballsy move. If Trump didn’t care about his country, what would the motive be for something like that? Why would he stop flights coming from China in January when Democrats, the media and advisors were all against this decision of his? If he didn’t care about the country, he would’ve listened to these people or the WHO who first said that there was no evidence of human to human transmission.
I really can go for pages on this, but my opinion is that this administration is a unique one to be judged by their actions and not by what has come before. This is where Caitlin falls short that I was compelled to call her out on. Yes, I was as frustrated as she is, I was as frustrated as you are, but for the first time in my life I am seeing an actual politician who genuinely cares for the people that he serves. Do you know that Trump donates his salary to charity? Why would he take hydroxychloroquine if he was interested in pushing for a more expensive treatment that he could actually profit off of? The answer is, is that he’s not in office for the money or the fame it brings. Yes, he has an ego, yes he’s not particularly eloquent, but he is exactly the type of man America needs right now.
God help us if it was Hillary leading us through this crisis. We would still be locked down and the economy would be beyond saving. The CCP would buy even more American assets on the cheap (and internationally) and we would all be their slaves. There is a war going on that few of us are able to see. It is not being fought with guns or missiles, it is psychological, spiritual and economic.
It is the “invisible enemy” that Trump often speaks about. I feel the virus is a scam being perpetrated upon us and I am cognizant of how propaganda has lead to the rise of Hitler in 1933. What we are seeing is in fact, a campaign of disinformation being deployed by globalists to further their sick and twisted fantasies. Covid 19 has actually been a blessing in many ways because we now see the dangers of globalization more clearly and corruption is being brought into a much sharper focus. Trump deserves a lot of credit for exposing the depths of this ongoing corruption and propaganda.
He’s a hero to many, for the reasons I’ve listed and other reasons too numerous to list.
So… that’s where I’m coming from. I never was a Trump supporter but I will support and applaud anyone who acts with good faith and honors truth, justice and upholds the Constitution. This is what the President is doing, in my mind.
He’s done more for America in three years than Obama has done in eight. He’s done more for this country than I’ve seen any president ever do.
No new wars. Much fewer drone strikes. Less foreign intervention. The list goes on.
Hope some of what I wrote is useful. Sorry for the rant. Again, your perspective is appreciated. Thank you for sharing it.
