That endless diamond mirror,
Laying on its side on my bedroom floor.
Your eyes stare into my own,
Through the looking glass.
Fragments of you are lodged into my soul,
Bitterly rubbing against the walls of my heart.
The warmth of which cries out for your return.
And yet the mind persists.
Barricades built on bricks of pride.
Courage and strength required to scale them,
And so we listen and wait.
We wait for signs.
We heed words and thoughts not of our own.
In blind ignorance.
In spiteful defiance.
Of feelings.
And wants.
Standing at the edge of an empty void.
Peering into its hidden darkness.
Wondering if we should jump.
We have chosen faith, you and I, my love.
Leaping into the unknown.
Hoping for a net to cradle us below.
As we float together in silent descent.
Side by side.
Unable to see the other.
Only able to feel.
Feelings have damned us.
We have been cursed.
This is the wrong end of the tunnel.
May God forgive us.
